| DESIGN NAME: Macrocosm Embodied PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office interior design INSPIRATION: To avoid aloofness and detachedness as a result of precision and perfection stressed by the technology industry, and to break barriers between people, the large office sections have an open-plan layout, hence facilitating exchanges and interactions among employees. A warm-tone carpet is also paved to soften coldness brought by electronic products. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in Neihu Science and Technology Park in Taipei with its abundant expertise, capital and talent, it is the headquarters of Proch, covering up to one thousand pings and boasting advantage of occupying a high floor of a tall building and ample natural light from three sides. Remodeled with a new design to enhance team cohesiveness and closeness, it is reshaped to exude feelings of humanity and warmth in the space so as to subvert the impression of coldness in the technology industry. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Visual effects of magnificence and majesty are fully displayed through the use of simple construction materials and with the absence of over-decoration. The circular ceiling shaped by wooden grille, with randomly arranged light fixtures, looks like a sky full of stars, presenting the grandeur and splendor of the entire cosmos, thereby implying that the immense enterprise can encompass the entire universe. The counter made of artificial stone pairs perfectly with the round ceiling. Combined with the grille screen behind it, it endows the space with feelings of both openness and concealment. The concept of being circular on the inside and square on the outside is also apparent in the offices of supervisors and the conference rooms, with large pieces of glass allowing for openness and interaction in the space. CHALLENGE: To overcome limitations of similar units in an industrial zone, the designer of Macrocosm Embodied takes great pains to arrange light fixtures and organize the layout. Eastern philosophy is integrated into this headquarters of a technology enterprise without looking out of place. With the combination of technology and humanity, and through the orchestration of the flow, exchanges and interactions of its future users are guaranteed, cohesion of employees are ensured, and the mission assigned by the owner is thus perfectly accomplished.
