PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Building blocks

INSPIRATION:
Music education is important for children, but it is not available to every family. In addition, the existing music education method is not suitable for young children. That's why I designed Music Wave :to make it easy for every child to create Music. Translating the melody of music into visible waves can also help visually impaired children use it properly.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Music Wave is a set of electronic music blocks, including track blocks, boats and lighthouse music boxes. The track is made of safety rubber and metal and can be bent into various shapes of waves. As the electric boat travels on a wavy track, it records the track and transmits the data to the lighthouse music box, where the shape of the track is recorded as a score to produce the corresponding melody. Children are able to create melodies by designing their tracks.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
You can twist the track into the desired shape, then activate the tower music box, start the boat and place it on the track. The boat then moves and records its position data, which is transmitted to the music box, which emits the corresponding music.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2021 in Beijing and finished in February 2021in Henan as my homework.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The main materials are plastic, rubber and metal, and some are wood. Parts of the track are made of metal inside and covered with thick rubber.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The toy market is booming, with educational and educational toys gaining popularity among parents.Music education, as an important part of education, is also attached great importance to by many parents. In China, many parents will send their children to learn Musical Instruments, but the study of Musical Instruments is very boring. By interviewing some parents and following the daily behavior of some children, I found that they tend to learn unconsciously. Therefore, I designed this product, hoping that children can enhance the experience of music during play.

CHALLENGE:
I think the hardest part is how to combine music with a computer so that children can create their music easily and without restrictions in play. I came up with a lot of different forms for this, but I decided to use this flexible material that can twist rather than just building blocks.
