| DESIGN NAME: 2021 Beigang Lantern Festival PRIMARY FUNCTION: Installation Art INSPIRATION: In 1965, Beigang Chaotian palace held the first Lantern festival. There are a lot of historical footprints in Beigang. Such as Chaotian Palace, one of the three major Mazu temples in the world, and the historic Shijiao Water Pagoda are all located here, it brought up the craze of lantern festivals all over the country, therefore we can say Beigang is the hometown of lantern festival.The artworks are mainly immersive experience, to create sense of hierarchy by using multi-sensory. To experience the history and culture with modern art. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Beigang Nostalgia and Time rivers, which is a light art show and events hosted by the Yunlin County Government. The three principles are Hometown Lantern Festival, Beigang, Historic site preservation, Taiwan 400 years and Time rivers, and derived to the Light Shadow show. It is such as a Time Travel to experience Taiwanese history, light art and immersive performance, of nostalgic culture and time rivers. We alley to express the traditional aesthetics of Beigang-Yunlin County, promote the charming place about historic sites in Beigang to the global. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Immersive experience and Virtual Reality will be our main focus in this show. Integrate traditional lighting technology with modern light and shadow elements, We have created a new virtual-reality experience in which the environment is presented by only ground surfaces, walls and air. In our demonstration, such a technology and combination of artworks allow the user closely sense and feel the message that the artist intends to deliver as the user virtually visits Beigang, Yunlin. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project will be exhibit from February 25,2021 to March 14,2021 in Yunlin Beigang Town, Taiwan. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Using computer to simulation, to determine the structure and lighting. Using laser scanner and 3D printing to bulid the model, in order to ensure that the installation will not damage historical buildings. Preserve the charm of the building. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width: 14.15m x Depth: 9.00m x Height: 10.65m , Area: 112 m2 The whole park includes lantern art, science and technology dynamic exhibition, light sculpture projection, light environment arrangement, etc. , the whole is made of stainless steel, iron, waterproof paint, LED. TAGS: Architectural appearance Lighting , Light and shade , Floodlight , Clearance light lighting , Internal transmitted light lighting , Innervation lighting , Immersive experience RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The history of Suidaotou Park has been 93 years ago. The Shijiao Water Tower which was built in Showa 5 is now a historical site. Chaotian Temple, one of the three largest Mazu temples in the world, is also located in Beigang. To consider which way can both protect as well as maintain these cultural relics, we transformed the historical relic into modern art by combining it with modern GLOW art. What's more, we showed the extraordinary craftsmanship of the century art town, and let more people know the art and beauty of Beigang's history. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part for this project is definitely the presentation of the historical buildings. The presentation of a building can be quite difficult on its own, with the unique properties on a historical building, it adds another layer of challenge to our team. In addition, the management, installation, disassembly, and transportation of the scan device brought our team to a new level of accomplishment.
