| DESIGN NAME: Hoian Postcards PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: The city of Hoi An allow a seven stories building although the houses of the ancient city are no more than two levels. On such a site, an astonishing architecture means ridiculous. The tourists need an architecture which introduce the style of Hoi An and its life. A puzzle game makes the facade of the hotel a patchwork of the Hoi An houses and interior design reflecting the Hoi An houses' interiors, with their dark wooden structure, silk cushions, colorful lanterns and their elegant furnitures. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Hoi An is an ancient harbor city which had until the middle of 19th century commercial relationship with China, Japanese, Portugal, Spanish, Dutch, Indonesia...The ancient city has been preserved until now and it has been chosen by UNESCO as a World Heritage. Its architecture which mixes Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and some western influences is quite spectacular, so tourism is expanding. The challenge is to build nearby this ancient unique city a hotel of 150 keys with an informal land form. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: an accommodation for vistors to Hoi An Town, Da Nang City, Viet Nam PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2017-2018 and will be built soon. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A good solution for a big challenge, create a miniature Hoi An by : Treatment of the facades. Organisation of traditional spaces as an interior courtyard associated with transparent public spaces connecting the interior to the green space of the rear garden and the street outside. Diversification of room spaces, following the theme of the traditional Hoian space. Creation of a glass dam to avoid flooding problem by ensuring the ground level continuity and visual transparency to welcome tourists. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The land area is 2,125 m2. The land use ratio is 60 percent. Hotel of 150 keys Annual flood solution, using Autoclaved Aerated Concrete TAGS: Hoi An, Postcards, Boutique Hotel, mosaic facade, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The idea is to make the facade a patchwork of the Hoi An houses, which is an introduction to Hoi An Ancient Town. CHALLENGE: Covid 19 changes the world, creates a lot difficult to develop commercial, cultural and touristic activities. The facade and the courtyard with all the details in Hoi An style need the time to implement, the qualification of the finishing and supervision to respect strictly the design.
