PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Soap Grinder

INSPIRATION:
We got our inspiration from a pencil sharpener. Everyone who uses soap in their lives has a problem with a small bar of soap waste. Soap breaks down into a tiny piece after long use. Not only is it hard to clean the skin, but it is also hard to hold. Our motivation is to design products that solve this problem. Grind the soap into crumbs.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a unique product. This product is not on the market yet. We call it a soap pencil sharpener. What is unique about it is function. Grooves at the top allow soap to go in, and when a button is turned, the soap is rolled into powder by an internal scraper. Users just need to reach out their hands to get soap crumbs. This not only provides a convenient bath for users, but also solves the problem that small pieces of soap are difficult to use.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
First, connect the power supply on the back of sharpener. Then, insert the soap. At the same time, press the switch, the indicator light on the left side will light up indicating product is working. When the user is in the shower, he or she puts hand into the hole of sharpener and the internal spatula goes to work stirring the soap into soap crumbs. At this time, the user can obtain soap crumbs for more convenient cleaning.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in September 2020 in Milan and finished in February 2021 in that place, and was exhibited in China in February 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Its base is made of ABS, and the heat conduction is slow enough to keep the user from feeling cold. ABS material has strong impact resistance, scratch resistance, dimensional stability, and other characteristics, at the same time both moisture-proof, corrosion resistance, easy processing, and other characteristics. ABS material is also very environmental protection, because of the use of environmental chemicals, so there is no toxicity and no smell, but also to electrical insulation, is a very safe material.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
From 2013 to 2018, China's soap production fluctuated. In 2018, China produced about 900,000 tons of soap. The soap market has grown by 8% in the last decade. According to the study, an average of 8 percent of the soap is thrown away. That means 100,000 tons of soap are wasted every year in China alone. The products that solve this problem have broad market prospects.

CHALLENGE:
This is an innovative design with a complex internal structure, and the machining qualification rate is the biggest challenge encountered by this project.
