| DESIGN NAME: Circle of Life PRIMARY FUNCTION: Street lamp INSPIRATION: According to the incomplete statistics of the World Animal Protection Association, there are about 600 million stray animals in the world, mainly made up of stray cats and dogs. They drink water containing a large number of bacteria for a long time, which seriously impairs their health. Studies show that the average life span of a cat or dog is 10-15 years, while that of a stray cat or dog is only about 3 years. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It's a special infrastructure designed to maintain sound development of the city, and we named it Circle of Life. It not only collects garbage, but also provides a low-cost solution for lighting the city and supplying drinking water to stray animals. The design of this product aims to change the single existence mode of urban infrastructure and reflect the harmonious coexistence among environment, people and animals. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This product adopts an integrated design which integrates lighting, garbage collection and water supplier for stray animals. Its cylindrical shape makes the porous water absorption structure achieve the maximum water absorption area and efficiency with the minimum space occupation. Water outlets of different heights are designed to meet the drinking needs of stray animals of different sizes. CHALLENGE: With a simple design style, its integration of multi-functional design achieves a coordinated sense of beauty. The delicate runway round cutting is full of modern sense, while the drinking water outlets with different heights show more humanized concept. The vibrant green honeycomb structure with the silver-grey main body gives a sense of visual comfort. The product's unique porous design solves this problem by providing a clean water source for stray animals. At the same time, it also provides convenience for people's living environment and night travel. It provokes people’s awareness of environmental protection and care for stray animals. In this way, the harmonious coexistence of environment, human and animals can be achieved, which is of great significance to the society and ecology.
