| DESIGN NAME: Urban camping PRIMARY FUNCTION: Urban Retreat Space INSPIRATION: Different from the traditional camping you feel city and nature together. As our site is pier located in the most busy area "central" in Hong Kong. We try to well use of four natural elements: wind, earth, water and fire surrounded of the space, as the pier is just on the sea, with wind and sun as no building blocked in front, and facing to hong kong famous mountain "Lion rock" which representing "Lion Rock Spirit" as "perseverance and solidarity" as earth element. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Concept:pick up your tent, taking the Lion rock boat, escape the city life. A TENT: is a small and unique space for your own.You can set up everywhere you like, and you feel freedom. A BOAT: is a moving space, you feel you are just leaving. A totally differnet feeling space from city life, Finally you got escape. Program: Step1: cleaning and refresHing your tired body. Step2:Relax your mind Step3:Wake up your mind and body Step4:Return and bring something back OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The project is aim to attract the people who are working overtime or working under pressure in the city. Our site is located at the most busy area “central” inn Hong Kong. We provide a space for people to take a short break, just a night or a week end. People can follow our program step to relax and recover and escape the city life and enjoy the city and nature together. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: central, hong kong |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There are two interactive installations, rain corridor (inspirated by a art installation rain room) that with motion sensor, when people go through but doesn’t get wet. The second one is wind room, we created a facade that base on the wind force and direction and changing with the nature. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: over2000sqm TAGS: urban camping RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The challenge is our site is a pier and need to be keep the operation, so our design need to prevent and reduce the affect on the pier operations.
