DESIGN NAME: Multi Storey Garden
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Home Garde
INSPIRATION: Modern gardens were the inspiration. The garden, planned in relation to the shape and interior of the building, was designed as a series of separate spaces with carefully selected proportions.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In this design, it was primarily necessary to take into account the slope of the terrain towards the house. It was used to create a terraced garden layout. The owners wanted it to be friendly with low-rise stairs. There was to be a multi-level fountain, a place to relax and interesting plants. The existing huge pines already form the landscape. Hence, the surfaces of lawns at different levels are arranged obliquely, they avoid existing trees and optically extend the entire space to the sides.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The garden changes markedly throughout the year. It is very colourful – exactly what the owners wanted. In the evening, thanks to the designed lighting along the paths and numerous floodlights, a romantic and warm atmosphere was created. Plants attract butterflies and other insects.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project completed in 2016. The construction of the garden began in February 2017 and was completed in November 2020. In June 2020, the gardening programme "Maya in the Garden" was recorded in it - the broadcast will be in 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The paths, stairs and walls in the bulkhead are finished with granite slabs. The terraces and seats in the indenter by the fire are made of composite boards. We planted about 1,200 new flowering plants and a lot of tulips. The fountain is built so that the water circuit is closed. The water tank is very deep in the ground, so you do not need filters because it is cool there.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Plot length 56 m, width 25,5 m on average. The area around 1191m2.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before starting the project, we inventoried the plot with vegetation to be able to use it in the new project. We have made accurate measurements and soil analyses.
CHALLENGE: The garden near Toruń was to be in a modern style. The designer wanted to obtain a functional, stable composition, referring to the modern interior of the building. The individual elements were geometrically modeled and harmoniously combined to form several rooms. This required the undercutting of the sloping terrain with an excavator and manual shaping of the terraces.
