DESIGN NAME: Vintage Modern Aesthetics
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant
INSPIRATION: Previous business model was mainly based on family and company dinners, but current model is based on the premise of attracting young people. The extravagantly styled sofa upon entering the vintage wooden door allows consumers a relaxed mind and soul to enhance the pleasure of dining. The design concept of combining the ceiling with painting frame allows everyone with their own piece of imaginative sky, while the bright and bold private room colors further conform to the application of modern aesthetics.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design project deviated from the simple generic design of traditional all-you-can-eat restaurants. With the application of vintage low-profile sentiment with a luxurious modern lofty tone, it boldly subverted the existing ideas of traditional all-you-can-eat restaurants, allowing clients to feel both physically and mentally enriched while dining via the conflicting aesthetics.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The facades and flooring adopted the same color series, where the matching color tones create a venue with resplendence without leaving traces, yet not introducing any sense of oppression; the fusion between different materials forms the modern and luxurious visual atmosphere.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in May 2020 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The air ducts, pipelines, and wires in the ceiling of dining area are retained. With the consideration of budget, the ceiling is presented with metal grids and archaistic wooden boards, which is inspired by grilling nets. The bright-colored walls and decorations in the dining area of the private rooms make people feel like they are in an art gallery while dining, and they can enjoy the atmosphere of watching the exhibition at the same time.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dining area is 897 square meters, with 195 seats and 101 private rooms. The kitchen area is 100 square meters.
In the restaurant, from screens to tables, chairs, and pick up area, all are designed and customized according to the owner's requirements on space.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Design that subverts the traditional impression often encounters concerns about whether to implement or not, and it will take more time during design plan discussion to let the owners accept the design. In addition to drawing 3D diagrams to allow the owner to see the future restaurant more clearly, the designer communicated patiently with owners to let them understand the designer's thought on the design. It's all about good communication.
CHALLENGE: The owner has a tight budget. In order to achieve visual aesthetics with limited budget, the ceiling of the hall is used semi-decorated and the original plant wall design is changed to a triangular ornamental box. Through clever design integration, the goal of greatly saving money is achieved.
