INSPIRATION:
The current pandemic that has affected the whole world is what inspired this project. The current situation is difficult for adults, let alone children. Children need their worries to be heard and understood. Adults need to spend time with children to help them feel safe and to give them the information needed to protect themselves. During this time we cannot rely on others protection, we have to protect ourselves too. So teaching the safety precautions to children is essential.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Play therapy is an effective way used by children psychologists to help them better understand their emotions specially thorough crisis times as Covid-19 pandemic. This toy allows parents to create a similar condition to better communicate and help their child deal with both negative and positive emotions. The goal is to encourage children to talk about their emotions through a fun journey on 8 lands according to 8 emotions.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Planet8 is an interactive educational toy based on play therapy that is designed to help children understand and deal with crisis/trauma & negative emotions. RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The design process including data gathering was based on IDEO Design Process and Social Innovation toolkit. Secondary research, specialist interview and Questionnaires were the most important research tools. According to Jean Piaget, "play provides the child with the live, dynamic, individual language indispensable for the expression of (the child’s) subjective feelings for which collective language alone is inadequate." Play helps a child develop mastery over his innate abilities resulting to a sense of worth and aptitude. According to research, storytelling and using toys is the best way to deal with difficult topics. Helping put together what is there now, and what it should be, or what they would like it to be.

CHALLENGE:
The most challenging issue was simplifying the process in order to get parents and children communicate during difficult times. Finding an appropriate mean to simplify unpleasant data for children and making a good final expression so that they can deal with their emotions in a proper way was the hardest part of this project.
