DESIGN NAME: UV Poignee
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door Handle
INSPIRATION: The whole world is equally challenged by COVID19, and sanitizing all surfaces is the way to stop the spread of the virus and keep the communities safe and the vast majority of people are using sanitizers such as alcohol and other chemicals which are costly and eventually damaging the environment by packaging and the way they have been produced.
Using UV radiation to sanitize against Covid19, is more environmentally friendly and seems to be cost-efficient in the long which is used in this Desig.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Because one of the ways of transmitting this disease is the surface of objects and the handles that are currently in need of continuous disinfection.
This handle is designed in such a way that it does not need to be disinfected after each use, but it is disinfected in the shortest time by placing UV inside it and does not harm the environment. In this way, after each use, the rays are turned on for a few seconds and the entire surface of the handle is sterilized.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: After each use of the handle, the sensor inside it is activated and UV rays disinfect the door handle. The irradiation time is about 10 seconds, during which the surface of the handle is completely sterilized.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in June 2020 in Iran and finished in July 2020 in Iran

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research on how long the virus stays on various objects and what substances are suitable for disinfecting surfaces. Also, the degree of stability of the virus against various UV rays and research on the environmental effects of radiation and other disinfectants.
CHALLENGE: This type of radiation, while very useful for disinfecting the environment and objects, in case of direct contact, can cause serious damage to the skin, so inside the handle is a sensor that does not light up when someone is near it, and a few seconds after Pressing the handle turns on.
