| DESIGN NAME: PPGate PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shop INSPIRATION: PPGate is the first retail design for the international paint finish brand "PPG" at Suzhou, China. The interior design idea was from the PPG's application for both interiors and exteriors of the building. So the window is the common media for both sides. The designer would like to use "window" as the design element for the shop. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: PPGate is the first retail design for the paint finish brand "PPG" at Suzhou, China. The designer was appointed to design a shop within the shopping mall. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Shop front and traffic flow is very important to the shop design. Therefore, the designer proposed the sharp and eye-catching shop front with many different colour panels to match the PPG's character. Besides, the traffic flow was clearly designed. After entering the shop, customers would see the LED with the brand's introduction, then there are series of display panel and some demonstration units. Finally, there is a casual meeting area for further discussion about the products. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2020 and finished in May 2020. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Paint finish, marble, stainless steel, acylic etc SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The size is around 7m width, 17m depth. TAGS: #PPG, #PPGate, #retail, #shop, #hotkoncepts, #martinchow RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As it is a retail design, therefore the designer needed to realize the brand character and type of customers in Suzhou, China. Of course the designer was required to work closely with the the client, so that we came up some optional interior styles and layouts for the client's approval. CHALLENGE: Since the covid-19 this year, the overall economic situation is bad. It also affected the construction budget. Designer was required to design the creative interior space with very limited budget during that hard period.
