DESIGN NAME: Quarter
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair
INSPIRATION: Quarter is inspired by the measuring spoon in the kitchen. The smaller spoon can be stored in the bigger one. The chair can be stored like a chair, but via rotation, I can have 3 extra chairs.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Quarter is a plastic chair with clapboard , which can transform it to the chair for 1-4 people use. The seats are hollow so the smaller chair can be stored in the bigger one. When it is stored, it can sit by 1 person, when you need more seat, just pull it and there are 3 extra seat for people.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Quarter is a chair with clapboard. When it is for person, the clapboard can be a chair back to lean on. But when there are 4 people, Quarter can turn into 4 chair for them to sit.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A is combined with 5 pieces: 4 seat pieces with clapboard and the metal stick. The 4 pieces of seat are made with plastic, and the metal stick is to combined them and hold the weight.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This research focuses on how to help the global pandemic with innovative design idea for general public, and conducted during the 2020 Spring semester at the National Taiwan Normal University, the department of design. The research is pedagogical approach to the design thinking method of identifying problem and exam through prototyping. To address the critical issues during the global pandemic, the research investigated the social conditions and needs what could be the innovative solution to specific problem.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this research was to understand the global needs. Since this research conducted in Taiwan where one of the least impacted counties so far from the COVID-19, it was essential to create large hypothesis of each countries programmatic condition.
