INSPIRATION:
Humans experience different emotions during the quarantine due to their worries and anxieties. One of the best ways that are recommended to improve people's mood and reduce anxiety at home is to set aside time for self-care. Snip is triggered from the tendency to fix your own hair up during quarantine, so Snip is an app that falls into the category of DIY applications and uses AR technology to allow people to experience beauty with pleasure.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Snip is an application based on augmented reality technology to allow people to choose and style their hair, eyebrows, beard and mustache and this can be done by themselves or someone else. This app visually displays the guidelines step by step and accompanies the user by using the audio guide to the end.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Completing a DIY project gives you one of the most satisfying feelings anyone can have, and when you are happy, you can avoid the spending temptations that would fill an emotional void. If you can't go to a hair salon and get a haircut, Snip is here for you. The user enters the app and selects the desired model and then the tools required for each step displayed in the text, video and photo, after that the user enters the AR space and receives a visual and audio guide at each stage.

The project started in March 2020 in Tehran and finished in May 2020 in Tehran.

Snip is an application where augmented reality meets smartphones. we utilized native app technologies, including camera-based features for scan and augmented reality features.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Research began with the articles on dressing up, self-care and DIY project. We learned that there are many reasons to dress up and self-care during the quarantine. We explored these reasons and chose some of them like feeling optimistic, confident, responsible and getting rid of lousiness to design this app. Therefore Snip was made through researching of the psychology behind dressing up, so you can DIY with pride and a healthy dose of happiness.
CHALLENGE:
The main challenge we faced was to make the act of adornment simple, enjoyable and yet accessible for everyone, and also accompany users with technology to achieve a new skill. Learning something new is fun and fulfilling, and your time is spent in flow, whereby you are focused on the task at hand, which is a form of mindfulness and so very important for a healthy mind, body, heart and soul.
