DESIGN NAME: Kemila
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Portable Food and Water Container
INSPIRATION: I had been observing the problems of pet owners. The observation was the most significant factor which led the project to progress. Pet owners have difficulty in carrying their pets’ food, water, and containers altogether. Based on this problem, I aimed to find a solution for our pets.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The water and food containers can be affixed and taken out to the main trunk and also, the food and the water are stored in the same trunk. Therefore, the food and the water containers, that the pet owners have to carry separately while going out, can be carried with one product. You can set the amount of meal for your dog. Also, the reason why there are two containers is to prevent the smell of the food in the water container and to prevent the mixture of smell.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is works double-sided. When you want to fill it with food, you turn up the metal section and open it, you fill it with food and close. When you want to fill it with water, you turn back the product and open the watertight metal section, you fill it with water and close the metal section. You can set the amount of meal for your dog.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research objective of the project was to identify the problems people experience while feeding their pets out. Then, The target group of the project was determined and the problems experienced by the target group were observed. To understand the problems of the target audience better, the cognitive empathy method was used and 5N1K questions were asked to the target group. These questions, What are the problems? Why are these problems experienced? How can these problems be solved? Where are these problems experienced? When does it happen? Who is having these problems?
Observation and interview techniques were used as research tools. According to the interviews, pet owners who have dogs stated that they have difficulty in feeding them outdoor and they have to carry many products separately. At the same time, they stated that they can not adjust the proportion of the meal and that the smell of food and water are mixed. In line with these results, the definition of the problem and the target group was clearly determined. The psychographic, demographic characteristics, and lifestyles of the target group were analyzed in detail. As a result of these analyzes; priorities, resources, budget, and project areas were determined. At the end of this whole process, the project result was presented to the target audience and it was considered critical. Positive and beneficial feedback was received from the target group. At the same time, with this project, a portable and suitable product for outdoor usage which is useful for our pets was presented.
CHALLENGE: Providing food, water, and two different containers together in a compact way while preventing the smell of food to mix water was the most challenging part of this project.
