| DESIGN NAME: Drinkware Lampshade PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table Lamp INSPIRATION: The faceted glass beautifully reflects receiving the light from outside and soothes the soul of those who drink with it. Such an idea was come up with that a favorite glass could also become a lampshade and create a beautiful light effect in a different way by reflected from the light inside. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The table lamp is newly designed to use a beautiful expensive faceted drinking glass as a lampshade without any modification such as drilling. The lampshade holder has the unique semicircular arm structure connected to a jig that securely holds the bottom of the glass between the inside and outside and provides the power feeder cable from the opening edge of the glass, which combines practical function with artistic flair. Your favorite luxury faceted drinking glass can be used as a lampshade on the table lamp to create a lighting effect to further enrich your life. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is very easy to install a faceted drinking glass for a lampshade in the table lamp shown in the optional image #4. First, you can take the drinking glass in your hand (upper left image) and insert it between the rubber pad of the semicircular arm and the other rubber pad of the jig (upper right and lower left images). Finally, you can securely lock the bottom of the glass with screws (lower right image). And also, you can enjoy very variety of the table lamp style because you can choose the number and the direction of the arms shown in the optional image #1 and #2. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2020 in Tokushima, Japan and finished in June 2020, and the design got a utility model right in September 30th 2020 in Japan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All lamp bases and lampshade holders are made of stainless steel. The jig for holding the faceted glass and the adjustment of the lampshade holder position and direction are all easily locked with screws. The power feeder cable is provided inside the stainless tube and inconspicuously stuck along the arm. The structure of the object has been designed to meet the artistic atmosphere of simple metalwork as a whole as if it is a heavy tree with beautiful fruit of faceted drinking glass. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product dimensions are as follows: In the main image, the table lamp is about 40cm in width and 39cm in height. In the optional image #3 the semicircular arm of the lampshade holder is 9cm in diameter and it can hold any faceted drinking glass of less than 8cm in diameter and 7cm in height. TAGS: table lamp, lampshade, faceted glass, cutglass, glassart RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In order to realize the project Drinkware Lampshade, it was necessary to invent the mechanism which satisfies both function of holding a drinking glass without any modification such as drilling and providing power feeder cable inconspicuously. CHALLENGE: It took a long time to invent the mechanism of easily holding and locking a drinking glass by making some prototypes. The problem was solved by a simple screw locking mechanism although it was difficult to lock the drinking glass so as not to stress the power feeder cable.
