DESIGN NAME: Accompany Heart Compression Assistant
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Spirit Support of Emergency
INSPIRATION: 80% of the cardiac arrest happens at home. However, people are not used to the emergency; Therefore the golden time for resuscitation is usually missed. According to the report, Automated External Defibrillator is one of the well-known rescuing product, but only 1% of the population dare to use it in public. The practical problems of the resuscitation are about fear and confidence. Above datas inspired me to design a project to solve the mental fear in the cardiac arrest situation.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The practical problems of the resuscitation are about fear and confidence. Accompany heart compression assistant is a project that integrates the empathy aspect and functional design to solve the practical problem. All the integrations can minimize the hesitating time. Therefore the patient is rescued in the gold time.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When people install Accompany heart compression assistant at home, it will be in the sleep mode(image#1). The breathing lighting of sleep mode (image#2)can make people emotionally familiar with Heart compression assistant. As long as people pick it up from the stand when someone gets a cardiac arrest, Accompany heart compression assistant would call to the emergency centre(image#3)—meanwhile giving you an introduction of how to deal with the emergency(image#4). Firstly, people have to put it on the chest to access the vital sign(image#5). After confirming the cardiac arrest, Heart compression assistant would show the interface that you can follow up the reference of depth and tempo for the heart compression until the emergency technicians arrive.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2019 in Denmark and finished in June 2020 in Denmark. The project will exhibit at the KoldingHus in September 2020.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Accompany heart compression assistant has a flexible screen and a translucent silicone body. Magnetic charging is for the vital sign sensor.
The compression sensor is on the top and bottom for universal design.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It is research about how to raise the chance to save people's lives in an emergency. Therefore the project study is an emergency product specialing in a heart compression machine. The methods of how I develop the project are Design ethnographic, Emotional design research, and participatory design. The data collection is from ScienceDirect website and published articles. Participants are Emergency technicians, ICU Doctors, and 20 to 60 years old people. The insight from the research: people need to have more mental support through and a physical guideline of heart compression, in order to motivate people to do the heart compression actively.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part could be the beginning; it's hard to find an outstanding problem, especially people would react differently from each other when they have different conditions. When I did the co-creation with people, people gave a robust subjective idea of the situations, but they enact separately in the simulation.
