| DESIGN NAME: Pearl PRIMARY FUNCTION: Movable UVC Light Set INSPIRATION: By personal user experience, the designer wishes to create a UVC light that can be easily carried to every place to disinfect during this time of Coronavirus. The eye-catching shape has a stand for longterm use which also makes an attractive display in the home or office. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is a combination of a hand-carry UV light with a cylinder stand that can close to protect the eyes from UVC light exposure while sterilizing little things inside like phones, keys, coins and bills or makeup kits. The appearance of this project is appealing in its homely design to add a relaxing note to people's homes during this fearful time of the COVID-19 virus. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Every detail of this particular UVC light, like the shape of the cover and smooth hand-touch feeling of the handle bar, is a result of high tech making skill and has been designed to make the product immediately recognizable. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The metal handle bar holds the UVC light to replace plastic and has a protective cylinder coating of hot press-shaped fabric for the stand. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 230mm x Depth 150mm x Height 170mm TAGS: waronvirus, adesignaward, uvclight, luxrydecoration, lightingdesign, designuvlight, multyfuctiondesign, Marco Guariglia, size m design studio, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The designer purposely included an inner reflector layer so when the cylinder is closed the objects inside will be treated by UVC light on all sides and surfaces at the same time. CHALLENGE: Visiting factories the designer noted that all workstations were bathed by UVC light. Tools were treated with UVC light on one side only therefore the tools were treated with UVC on the opposite side every other day.
