INSPIRATION:
Love is not always one. It is always be two or more just like a family. Love and care are the harmony of family. This pendant inspired the important of family life and love and care during the crisis.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This pendant is two parts heart shape pendant. Both part is closed together by the pendant bail. When the pendant is on necklace chain, the pendant enclose as a heart. One part is plain heart shape and the other part have a virus and person face on it. The inner surface decorated with hammered texture. The wearer can wear whatever part is facing outward. Moreover, it is easy to clean and sanitize.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
It is a simple pendant that show different things on each side. The sterling silver plate saw two heart shape and form the dome shape with dapping set. Apply the hammered texture on inner surface. There is no clasp on this locket pendant and simply enclose by the pendant bail so that the user easy to clean and sanitize.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started on 15 May 2020 and ended on 20 May 2020 at the workshop in Penang, Malaysia.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Traditional metalsmithing techniques used to make this pendant such as sawing, metal dapping, soldering and polishing. Material used in this pendant is 92.5% silver.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The project research conducted the COVID-19 pandemic. The painful finding is that the virus infected many people, separated families and claimed thousands of lives. The typical coronavirus structure with spike protein applied on the pendant to express the important of love and care during the crisis. The plain side of heart shape represent love and the other side represent care.
CHALLENGE:
The only challenge on this pendant is that the idea of how a pendant can clean and sanitize. At the same time, the user can wear either side facing outward.
