| DESIGN NAME: Xavier PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: Creating this chair, New Elegant Team has a mission to find solution for bringing what most consumers wanted and producer needed. Comfortable chair with unlimited possible design choice and easy to produce, whether it is bentwood or home 3D Printed is the main idea for Xavier. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Xavier's shape is designed to give a thought of both comfort and ease. New Elegant team has experience on creating thousands of modern classic furniture. By focusing on bentwood, the curve shape of the bentwood wraps on consumer's back will give comfort and simple contemporary style gives a little maintenance effort needed. By utilizing latest technology like CNC or 3D Printer consumer are also given many choice for back design from the minimalist, contemporary or even classic look. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Xavier consists only 3 main parts which are the back, rear leg, and front leg combine with seat. These parts are easily connected using the bolts and hardware provided. Consumer also can choose the color and back design based on their own taste. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Xavier main focus is in bentwood pressing technology. The back design will be carved using CNC machine for fast and accurate result. Other than that, Xavier is planned to be downloadable for consumer to 3D Print themselves at home. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 19.5"(W) x 22.5"(D) x 38.0"(H) TAGS: chair, comfortable, contemporary, home, furniture, bentwood, 3D Print, CNC RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Based on New Elegant Team experience in producing modern classic chairs, Designers team saw the obstacles for the producer. From choosing the various sizes of wood blocks, laminating, cutting, drilling, inserting hardware, sanding and finishing, there are so many steps and time needed. Those long process results in a higher price. The team has experience in bentwood processing which is also used in many parts of modern classic chairs.Then they have the idea to maximizing it for a whole chair. So the first idea of Xavier was born. CHALLENGE: Due to focus point is to keep the same base shape for mass production, designing the chair to be very simple yet attractive in the eye is the main challenge. The chair need to be able to show what kind of image that Designers wanted to show through the pattern. Also, designers need to be careful not to make a pattern that resulting a weak point on the back to easily brake.
