PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Contactless thermometer
INSPIRATION:
Thermo is inspired by my personal experience in China during the first two months of the Coronavirus outbreak. I encountered a huge array of contactless thermometer products in this time and they almost universally referenced a gun. When both the wielder of the ‘gun’ and the recipient are masked, the interaction is rarely friendly. I wanted to re-design this process that I would often experience multiple times a day. A small change could be enough to make your day just a little brighter.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Thermo re-thinks contactless thermometer design. The typical design language is often intimidating, not only does the form reference a weapon but the action of pulling a trigger pointed at the forehead can feel particularly threatening for the recipient, especially through the eyes of a child. Thermo transforms temperature checks by removing threatening semantics and providing feedback by re-introducing a smile, to help in situations where both parties are masked.
