DESIGN NAME: Introducing Light
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment
INSPIRATION: To expand additional living functions within limited area, this project has expanded the public space of the dining room and kitchen and connecting them with multi-functional cupboards. By reorganizing and adjusting the direction of the compartments, it smartly utilized fractional spaces to create an independent second bedroom.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project was an old house of 38 years. We stressed on the strengthening and renovation of its fundamental constructions and improved its inner red brick wall that is filled with wall molds. We used powder and liquid inorganic water-proof paint while enhancing the water-proof function of the walls cleavages and surface.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in October 2019 in Taichung, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It was originally a place with a bedroom and a living room. After re-examining the owner’s need, the team added, removed and replaced several compartments to transform the 33 m2-place into one with 2 bedrooms and a living room. We also utilized its daylight area and replaced walls with penetrating glasses and mirrors, thus introducing light from the main corridor to present a seemingly deep and unrestrained flow.
