| DESIGN NAME: Guardian PRIMARY FUNCTION: Community Public Sharing Drone INSPIRATION: There are some old communities where the primary residents are the elderly and the workers under the rapid urbanization today. But poor security and management in the night have led to a high incidence of cases. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Guardian brings the safety and convenience to the old community residents. In the dark, the people who are walking in the narrow road of the old community is accompanied by the Guardian. A service that is ensuring people safety with the APP. Monitoring, guiding, and lighting. The design team will entirely focus on the topic of community and its related issues like future living. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Real-time monitoring, the situation of the road ahead is transmitted to the APP, with the abnormal situation warning or alarm is set. The lighting function likes removable street light. Projecting the map on the ground in front to guide the user's direction. The drone does not need to occupy the ground position and can be docked on the roof to charge. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 3D Printing, Drone, APP SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Drone: 20cm * 25cm * 5cm TAGS: 3D Printing Drone, Social Security, Community, Interaction, APP RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We researched and observed 107 families, 290 persons, and 63% pointed out that they have families who need to work late at night to get home. The design team will entirely focus on the topic of community and its related issues like future living. Existing social media was not built for alone people in the night information sharing. Nor does it ensure a fast, effortless, and calm emergency response. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge of the designing process is always how to combine all the residents' voices. Therefore, strategy and design become a very important part and has an essential role in this complex process of creation. NAME: Shan Xu PROFILE: Shan Xu is a Chinese new media artist and designer in San Francisco and Beijing. Her work questions current nature and technology development, socio-cultural, and gender norms, with a particular emphasis on exploring the relationship between technology and art activism. Naturally drawn to uncovering the nuances and mechanism of the world people live in, she is particularly interested in exploring our daily landscapes and some of the key concerns of our times: the conflicting forces that shape land and humans. How people find ourselves caught between nature and technology, contemplation, and cooperation. Each of her projects begins with a long period of research. Simultaneously, in the studio environment, she uses her observations and collection of raw material (film and photography) to build visual worlds where awe and time reside together. Her goal is to recreate spaces that intrigue and encourage the viewer to slow down and indulge in a brief moment of contemplation and reflection. A moment that people all need to live healthy and balanced lives. Her body of work ranges from photography, sketches, hand renderings, 2D and 3D graphics, to film, video, sound, and animation. |
