DESIGN NAME: Diao Yu Tai
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Liquor
INSPIRATION: In ancient times, diaoyutai was a liquor dedicated to the emperor. The brand has always targeted the high-consumption crowd. The new packaging of diaoyutai wine is based on the concept of creating unique cultural symbols of the imperial palace through the traditional patterns of the imperial palace. It is closely related to the culture of the Palace Museum that the brand wants to convey, making the products look as luxurious and rare as the Palace Museum works of art, so that the target consumers can have the right association and strengthen the emotional connection with the brand.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The basic idea of diaoyutai design is to reflect the value of liquor through color symbols and luxurious craftsmanship. Yellow represents imperial power in China, while gold represents nobility, supplemented by the patterns of the imperial palace. The nobility and elegance show instantly.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The collocation of yellow and aureate can attract consumer attention quickly, besides pottery and porcelain has very good effect to accelerate ripe to maotai-flavor liquor.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in shenzhen in April 2019, finished sample production in shenzhen in June 2019, and went on sale in China in February 2020

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Bottles are made of ceramic.The boxes are printed in a very premium, textured and high quality card stock paper using Pantone colour palette.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Bottle :22.5cm x 8cm, capacity :500ml, packaging :15cm x 12cm x 30cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In order to better reflect the culture of the Palace Museum that the brand wants to express, we went to the Palace Museum and diaoyutai distillery to study the connection between palace wine and ancient vessels.
CHALLENGE: The difficulty with this scheme is the combination of color patterns and gold details on the bottle. After many experiments, the design team developed a sticker to solve this problem.
