| DESIGN NAME: Gem Tips Brush PRIMARY FUNCTION: Scalp Cleaning and Detangle Hair Brush INSPIRATION: The bristles were existed since 30 years ago in Japan. It is a very comfort and functional brush that no other brush can ever replaced. However, this type of heat melting technic is only made by hand. That causes the gem tip brush are highly valued in the market. Now days the labour shortage problem cause the brush disappeared in the market. We feel it is such a lost if we can't bring back the brush. We spend 5 years to study a automatic machines that can produce the bristles more efficiently. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With advanced heat-melting techniques, the tip on every single bristle is physically formed into a sphere like a delicate gem that stays permanently without falling off during the lifetime of hairbrush. The ultra-flexible thin bristles with GemTips penetrate through hair and undo stubborn knotspainlessly and easily. Free of sharp edges, burrs and seams, the consistent Gem-tips touch the scalp with incredibly gentle and smooth that deliver a cozy experience at every brushing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For 30 years, the gem bristles are used to hand made from Japan. But this kind of technics are slowly missing when time being. We replace the hand made melting technic to automatic machine, and name the bristle as Gem tips. The whole project is re-introduce the gem tips bristles and develop a new type of brush that can promote the gem tips brush. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Project started in June 2014 in Taiwan and finished in November 2019 in Taiwan. It will release in 2020. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The gem tips brush is made from transparent ABS and nylon. The bristle tip physically formed into a sphere by the heating melting technic like a delicate gem. We have researched a lot materials can melt perfect round in transparent color which will perform as a gem. For brush body design we also do as transparent color which penetrate as gem stone. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 110mm x 75mm x 50mm, 250mm x 70mm x 35mm TAGS: gem, hairbrush, scalp care, styling, cosmetics, shampoo, hair care, hairstyle, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We have researched a lot of cosmetics packaging and resources that will attract the lady audience. As name the bristle as gem tips, we hope the brush can perform as a gem stone with shiny effect that can catch people's eye in market. For the bristle melting technics, we tested almost a year to adjust the right tempture and timing to perform a perfect round and clear ball tips. CHALLENGE: we did a lot of brain storming to build up the machine, and do the research that similitary about other product's machine might can work on ours. After machine is built, we tested material, tempture and timing to achieve the quality we want it. The not accurate timing and tempter will perform very different quality of bristles. We test back and forth for almost a year to achieve the quality we want. For designing the brush, we need to create a gemstone brush, and the sharp edge won't affect the handling feelings. We decide to hide the sharp edge inside the handle and the surface still round and smooth.
