Interview with KAI JEN HSIAO at Tuesday 5th of May 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? KX: How to use the natural light to present the space with many changes. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? KX: Through the penetration of light and shadow, realize how to relax the office space and make flexible dynamic planning. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? KX: Arrange more people to visit the winning space and convey our design ideas FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? KX: About half a year FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? KX: Design industry has always been a high-pressure work style, hoping to create a close to nature, using natural light and planting diversity, to reduce the environmental pressure of workers. It's all about finding inspiration. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? KX: This design is our own office space (dunyue Design Co., Ltd.) FS: What made you design this particular type of work? KX: When I was hiking, I felt the power of nature, so I imagined this design. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? KX: Grey tile floor of Chinese garden FS: Who is the target customer for his design? KX: Small and medium-sized enterprises FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? KX: Add more avant-garde elements and colors FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? KX: The whole design is experimental, not popular. Here is the new world. She can have her original appearance, and she can contain different elements. Just like a mother, she can conceive all the unknown imagination and inspiration, which is the full bloom of human consciousness. Conventional design is out of the scope, and all fantasies can be realized here. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? KX: The irregular ceiling of the entrance is the most difficult part. In addition, the ferns suspended in the corner are imported from Thailand, and special attention should be paid to breeding. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? KX: Interior design is a science, it is bound by its own elements and principles, it is not as simple as people think! FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? KX: This design was created by Dunyue design team. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? KX: Fusion of space FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? KX: Affected by the change of light and shade and temperature, the position of air conditioning and the position of desk are tested FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? KX: How to make the dynamic line planning reasonable without affecting the design concept is a more difficult place. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? KX: The special office environment has been less challenging in the past, and this time it just happened to implement and implement this design, hoping to participate and bring more strength to the team! FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? KX: Learn to pursue your own inspiration, don't forget the original intention of design.
