FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
LD: Inspired by Chinese classical gardens and combined with staggered artistic techniques to establish spatial order, the plane layout has a magnificent atmosp here and at the same time,there is no lack of elegance in Jiangnan gardens.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
LD: Integrating Oriental life philosophy and art into contemporary design, design tries to find the space context of dialogue with the current Chinese elite, and deduce the contemporary Oriental temperament with profound connotations.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
LD: Will continue to participate in the competition, so that people around the world to see the project.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
LD: 3 months
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
LD: Generally, customers trust our intuition and judgment, and are directly entrusted by customers to design with full power. As the person in charge of this project, I personally want to let guests experience and feel something from the design.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
LD: This is a customized design for customers, we hope and is the only one that meets local characteristics
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
LD: Through the perception of the local scenery and folk culture
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
LD: No
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
LD: Business reception, travel and vacation, family and children
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
LD: With the traditional courtyard three-way hierarchical relationship as the design concept, let the lobby, aisle and lobby bar have their own place, and jointly create a three-hall-in-one state. The gray space divided by lines on both sides of the corridor makes the dense large and medium space suddenly clear. It also has the interest of step by step in oriental aesthetics and creates a quiet and dynamic atmosphere.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
LD: This is the client company ’s own name, which already existed when I received the design task
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
LD: AutoCAD，3D MAX，Photoshop
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
LD: use modern Oriental design language, integrate the relationship between time, space, nature and human, create artistic conception with Oriental temperament aesthetics, artistically express their precise grasp of life style and details, see the beauty of life in symbiosis, and see the world in an inch.
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
LD: I completed this work with my design team
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
LD: Thinking about the contemporary design language with the logic of oriental aesthetics is a more modern, fashionable, artistic, poetic and modern Oriental Language. It is this invisible charm that makes people enter the space and feel that the entrance of the space is the starting point of the whole scene, showing charming changes.
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
LD: In the modern architectural space, there is an implicit Oriental aesthetic vein, which infuses classical poetic expression into the contemporary space.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
LD: Apart from the rhythmic temperament of opening, gathering and dispersing, the key point of space is the appropriateness of each component, which not only fills the space with a dignified sense of ritual, but also forms the values of human, nature, architectural space and harmony.With very short timing, survey, design and construction happened at the same time. Efficient communication and mutual trust was the key to the success of the project.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
LD: After a period of understanding on the competition website, I deeply felt the charm of the competition. The page pictures on the website were beautiful, and the rules and fees of the competition made people feel friendly.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
LD: I think in our career, in addition to doing some business projects, it will be more meaningful to participate in social projects. Otherwise, our career can only make the world look better, better looking and more useful. That’s all. Here I want to quote a famous saying. “We don’t ask to be eternal beings, we only ask that things do not lose all their meaning.” — Antoine De Saint Exupéry
