Interview with Enrico Enrieu and Emanuela Zaniboni at Tuesday 28th of April 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? EE: The inspiration comes from a personal need, the idea of finding that nothing similar on the market had been done, the principle of managing the jet helmet in comfort giving it a specific function when it is not worn FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? EE: Create something that wasn't there and get a concrete result from an idea FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? EE: We see this victory as the beginning of an extraordinary adventure. We hope that the award gives us the visibility we need to create new relationships, new synergies, reinforce the creativity of Made in Italy, work hard FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? EE: I can't quantify the time but certainly not much and I'm still working FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? EE: I pursued an inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? EE: The project was produced by a textile company and our brand has been registered. For now the costs have been borne by us and we have no preclusions over the future. Any offers or collaborative proposals will be evaluated FS: What made you design this particular type of work? EE: A personal need and the desire to get involved FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? EE: The clothing. The inspiration from the outside comes from an outerwear designer who introduced me to the world of eco-sustainability FS: Who is the target customer for his design? EE: The customer who wants to stand out with a fashion solution, smart, attentive to details, lover of accessories and who does not give up on comfort and safety FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? EE: The toba is a triptych. A single object that becomes a handbag, a shoulder strap or a backpack FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? EE: We wanted to find a name that is easy to remember and immediate, a catchy sound while maintaining the identities important for us. To is Turin (our city) Ba is Barcelona (the city of the heart and the destination of our travels for reasons of friendship) Tank emphasizes the concept of container, the primary function of design FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? EE: Lover, paper, pensil, intuition FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? EE: The unique aspect of the design is undoubtedly its zipper of deliberately important dimensions which gives personality to the bag FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? EE: I worked with people with specialized technical skills who gave me advice on some technical aspects of the product FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? EE: I don't know exactly what you mean about technology. The realization of the product was made with the transformation technology of polymer of plastic into yarn for fabrics and laser cutting for the shape FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? EE: After drawing the project, I searched into the market for a similar product in appearance and with the same functions and I availed myself of the collaboration of professionals. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? EE: The availability of recycled and recovered tissues was not easy. The greatest difficulty was certainly to sew a zipper so important FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? EE: I remember the moment very well. We were in Barcelona and went to the home of an artist friend who exposed the prize poster about the competition in his studio. He told us his adventure and we decided to try it too FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? EE: I was used to working alone and I learned to work in a team FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? EE: I thank my collaborator Emanuela Zaniboni who worked a lot on the Design Award platform and that plays a fundamental role in the growth of the Toba
