Interview with Hsianglin Tseng at Tuesday 21st of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? HT: From the memories of the life in old village, the interesting things that happened in the life of that era. Combined the imagination of writer and illustrator to produce this series of works. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? HT: The emotion in the pictures. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? HT: Keep trying to expand the possibilities of this theme. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? HT: Three months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? HT: This design was commissioned. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? HT: The design was produced and used by another company. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? HT: The fantastic stories of the book. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? HT: The author gave me a lot of inspiration on this project. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? HT: The readers. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? HT: Common Pencils, Ink, Photoshop FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? HT: My personal style. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? HT: The Black and white highlight the emotions in the pictures. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? HT: Only use black and white to draw the magical world. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? HT: My friend encouraged me to present my works to the world. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? HT: Don't stop to learn new things and keep fulling of curiosity about the unknown. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
