Interview with Tony Lau Chi-Hoi at Wednesday 29th of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? TC: Design concept inspired by nature, theme like Cells- are the basic building blocks of all living things. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? TC: Sustainable design FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? TC: To promote Sustainable design & universal design FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? TC: two months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? TC: Pursuing Truth, Goodness and Beauty in art FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? TC: This schematic design can apply for chain-store system. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? TC: Spatial Branding FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? TC: Thomas Heatherwick FS: Who is the target customer for his design? TC: Universal design FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? TC: originality FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? TC: Products showroom as an Art Gallery FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? TC: 3d modeling software FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? TC: Art-Tech FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? TC: We integrate SMART technologies into this design and fitting out. Automation is the technology by which a process or procedure is performed with minimum human assistance. Automatic control is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as air-conditioning, product display, lighting switching control, on IoT networks, reduced human intervention. Some processes have been completely automated. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? TC: SMART, user friendly, environmentally friendly FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? TC: SMART technologies FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? TC: Customization FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
