Interview with Mohamad Ibrahim Husin at Thursday 2nd of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MH: It is a contemporary space in the middle concrete jungle in Manhattan, and it's inspired by the surrounding, the layers of the skyline view outside the unit. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MH: Creating a liveable space for my client. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MH: To learn more and excel more in interior designing FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MH: Took me about 2 to 3 weeks to come out and finalizing the concept FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? MH: It is a design commissioned and inspirations come from the surrounding itself FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? MH: none that I can think of FS: What made you design this particular type of work? MH: To soften the harshness of the concrete feel outside FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? MH: none that I can think of FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? MH: Autodesk Cad for planning, SketchUp for modeling & rendering and Adobe Creative Suite FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? MH: The contemporary style that rich with natural materials and textures. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? MH: I collaborate with 2 teammates FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? MH: Using VR technology to visualize the space FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? MH: I did abstract research mostly from the site and its surrounding for inspiration FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? MH: During executing the space, I had trouble bringing the intial piece of furniture because of the scale of the service elevator. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? MH: I'm so excited FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? MH: Be more resourceful and alert on the delivery of the item FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? MH: none that I can think of
