Interview with Jong Won Park at Monday 1st of April 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
JP: originally I wanted to show to traditional acrylic painting with cool sensibility also with good storytelling that would be definitely distinction with another painting even digital artworks as well.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
JP: actually I really pursued make unique acrylic painting that existed just 1 pic in the world. that also contain great color scheme , storytelling , composition for distinction with other artworks as well.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
JP: this painting recognized from several and various people , other artist as well , so I would painting constantly with getting interest from other people, audience . also I wanna this work inform to much more people in the world .

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
JP: overall whole period is around 1 month that included preparing period is 2weeks during that period just collect some of reference image , quick rough sketch, and during rest 2 weeks for actual painting period.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
JP: I just decided to pursuit an my original inspiration at that time.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
JP: of course my design produced constantly also have some plan for sell or lease as well . also sometimes I could work together who would be match with my style then of course make cooperation with someone .

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
JP: just my inspiration make me, also drawing and painting is most part of my whole entire career timeline.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
JP: game and animation industry, even feature film industry as well. this work got influence especially from Totoro that is japanese popular animation.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
JP: just normal person customer who wanna getting more great sensibility from artwork, painting especially traditional painting.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
JP: main distinction point is included interest storytelling ,and combination with relevant color scheme and composition.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
JP: I just approached to 'Rainy Day' from sensibility from mind, usually we can feeling more when a day with rainy, with sensibility storytelling as well.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
JP: just art acrylic brush that size slightly different and original acrylic paint, also canvas with fabric material. and finally put into the wood frame.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
JP: this is traditional acrylic painting so just 1 pic in the world, can't copy with original texture.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
JP: no, this is my own work.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
JP: just show great sensibility to audience, viewer also make much more better place where this artwork hanging on.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
JP: usually ,every time a day, I collect photo reference, other artwork, painting resource, watch the movie, reading the book, hearing some music which means everything influenced to me, to my work.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
JP: control of brush for painting , choose the between no water inside and slightly mixing the water, just like that because every image concepts in my head already.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
JP: some of A Design Award staff recommend to me that like a 'could you apply to this nomination for winning with your work?' so I just apply to this design competition.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
JP: I learning much more about improved my work that would be seeing much better than before also good feedback comment from organizer this competition.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
JP: no , most of question I got from this section so it is definitely enough I think.
