Interview with Claudia Perle at Wednesday 10th of April 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? CP: We wanted to create a new drinking ampoule with the focus of responsibility for our enviroment. The fabrication of Biobee food supplements follows strict rules, like: no alcohol, no artifical additives, colorants, nor taste smoother or artificial emulgiers. Stay in nature without loosing the effectiveness and work with the potential that everyone has is the central idea. Take this potential and work with it! Make the best out of it -of nature - of the product - of the person - of the situation! FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? CP: Our aim is to bring quality bee products in our daily life and support the men behind this prework (our beekeeepers). So if they are highly supported, they take care for our nature. The ecologically and economically responsible use of resources is the focus of our designs, whose quality is underpinned by qualitative certifications. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? CP: Biobee in companionship with mediapis, the practice pursues a comprehensive sustainability concept. Where we train farmers, apitherapists and other professionals or non-professionals also from Biobee side. With our work we support beekeepers as well farmers to work on a good level together, but we are also responsible concerning our packaging and further more to bring our work and products in a stylish way in everyones life. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? CP: Well we started in 2017 to get the right partners to establish this new way for health and food suppplement market. The most challenging of our presearch was, to find good and responsible brave partners. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? CP: Above all, the examples make one thing clear: Sustainable nutrition supplementation, which today has a high degree of complexity, is not a complete concept but is in a state of continuous development. So for Biobee is the challenge is to do more than the current minimum standard demands of us. In addition to the product quality, questions of the health qualities of our raw materials must also be answered. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? CP: Now as we from Biobee created a new product, we fistly want to see where our way will lead us. Will be curious and open minded, but we know about our responsibility. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? CP: Our life-world characterized by brisk mobility, the fast accessibility of performance and concentration is the order of the day. So we from Biobee wanted to develop the natural cell-energy shot Api Boost for this everyday situation, whereby its design wants to realize the maxims of clarity and pureness. Regarding our nowadays resource situation; it has also to be best recyclable. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? CP: No we just looked back in our time line where plastic were not so common like today and Biobee was looking for solutions that follow also the strict rules for pharmacies, countires and safety. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? CP: Biobee wanted to put a mark for everyone who feels attached. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? CP: Such design hasn't been concepted before. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? CP: Well the ingredients should express the valuables components out of the beehive. This was the maxim from Biobee. Than we thought the name would also for its appearence. CP: Just the need to find a new way of packaging combined for our precious time. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? CP: Will the quality resists over different aspects? Will Biobee be able to get the components in the right quality and will we be able to transport this to others? FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? CP: Well as we finally got from other designers congratulations for our work, there is comes the first time in our minds that Biobee shall take part for such an award. We never did this before and also this was challenging. Will it be enough? Can we take part? Do we have right skills? and much more wuestions run through our mind when we discussed this in our team meeting. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? CP: Well in the beginning there were only the wish, will and practice to pursue a comprehensive sustainability concept, but from there the journey started and it lead us in another direction and the end has not yet come. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
