Interview with Giovanni Murgia at Sunday 10th of February 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? GM: Inspiration was the history of this wine and of the territory. A unique wine that comes from centenary vines in the land of centenarians. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? GM: I wanted to get a clean and simple design but at the same time very elegant and prestigious. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? GM: Bring this design into other competitions FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? GM: 2 months have passed between the idea and the realization FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? GM: The project was commissioned by the winery that produces this wine FS: Who is the target customer for his design? GM: Companies that appreciate design and my style FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? GM: The uniqueness of this design lies in the concept behind it and that represents wine well FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? GM: The name is the ancient way of calling the Assyrian-Babylonian plant of the screw. They called the screw tree Kannu Na Um. This way of calling the screw dates back to the history of the Shardana people, the ancient people who lived in Sardinia. Kannu Na Um means "our sapling" and sounds like Cannonau. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? GM: The technology in making this label is very important. The technique of cast gold makes everything very elegant and prestigious FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? GM: Because I think that competitions are a valid way to make themselves known to the world
