Interview with Lise Fournier at Thursday 28th of February 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LF: The core values of this transformation were to be engaged with nature by bringing the outdoors in and to create an open plan environment. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LF: The three key strategies consisted of relocating the central staircase to the north facing wall, eliminating several interior wall partitions and partially opening the second floor to the living room below. This created a flexible open plan and allowed for high elevated ceilings and large expanses of windows, thus inviting the outside nature inside the home. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LF: This concept took 1 year to design.
