Interview with Min Liu at Monday 22nd of April 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? ML: "Nostalgic";; is the key word of this design. Listening to an old song, walking through an alley, passing a road, and the neon lights everywhere can make people feel the style of Hong Kong. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? ML: Material and Technology.Gave a sence of old Hong Kong. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? ML: Hope to be loved by customers. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? ML: One month FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? ML: Hong Kong is very special to me.Pursuing inspiration. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? ML: Be used by someone. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? ML: Feelings. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? ML: Cooperative partner. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? ML: Hong Kong style enthusiasts. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? ML: Different people have different views on different things. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? ML: A place name in Hong Kong. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? ML: CAD,Sketchup,3d-max and so on. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? ML: Use of lights and colours. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? ML: Cooperative partner. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? ML: Making design drawings come true. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? ML: Yes,material research. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? ML: The hardest part of this design is materials and processes. Traditional processes that are not available locally or that are not possible at the processing plant are required and produced. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? ML: I’m touched by the work. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? ML: See, listen and communicate more. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? ML: Nothings
