Interview with Jun Murata at Thursday 5th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? JM: Basically it is Zen. I translated it contemporaneously. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? JM: This Chinese enterprises challenge to enter the Japanese market, they need excellent business strategy and marvelous interior design . Indeed, I wanted to express Japanese beauty and Zen culture with excellent design. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? JM: I wish to contribute to the attractiveness and the name recognition of this restaurant. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? JM: 3 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? JM: Traditional Japanese elements are scattered in this design. It is a box garden, a grid and light, so that each makes you feel beauty and freshness. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? JM: This work is for companies headquartered in Shanghai. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? JM: Because it is a restaurant offering high-quality Japanese food, I aimed for the best food place to stay close to its quality. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? JM: no FS: Who is the target customer for his design? JM: Their target is increasing tourists, in addition to surrounding workers and residents. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? JM: no FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? JM: It is their shop name in China. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? JM: CAD and 3D studio MAX.
