Interview with Si Li at Tuesday 1st of May 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SL: My design idea is to express the most representative three animals in China by conveying the traditional Chinese shadow play as a way of expression, paying attention to the endangered species and respecting and extending the tradition. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SL: Pay attention to endangered species, respect and develop traditions. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? SL: I want to be a public service film to convey to the world concern about the species and the traditional culture in the way of Chinese shadow play. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SL: This way from the first draft to the continuation of more than a year FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SL: It's the inspiration I've been looking for myself FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? SL: The design is used by other companies FS: What made you design this particular type of work? SL: A love of Chinese tradition FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? SL: The unique design technique is the traditional expression of the shadow play, which is hen FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
