Home > Winners > Design #62529 >Interview
Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Cecilia Pozzi (CP) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Cecilia Pozzi by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Being here.

Interview with Cecilia Pozzi at Monday 30th of April 2018

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
CP: The idea was born in the garden of my fiance's house where there were some tree stumps cut

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
CP: I wanted to get a play of lights, a lamp that could make a space, even empty, special.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
CP: The production of being lamp

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
CP: almost a month

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
CP: I decided to follow the inspiration

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
CP: for the moment I do not know yet, I hope to produce it in collaboration with a company

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
CP: I wanted to give the strains a new life

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
CP: No, there aren't

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
CP: I do not think there is a target

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
CP: I believe the difference is in the use of light.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
CP: being means life, so it's a new life giving to something that no longer has it

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
CP: The design tools I use are softwear

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
CP: The light and the real essence of wood

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
CP: Not yet. I did everything by myself

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
CP: The role of technology is in the type of processing chosen for wood. This lamp can also be used with a different type of processing and finishing. The type of wood used for the realization of this lamp is very important because if the wood is hard will be much more difficult to drill holes and cuts along the circumference. The choice of the strain is also important to maintain the natural veining of wood. The strain can also be processed according to the customer request

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
CP: The research I did was on the type of wood to be used to create the lamp.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
CP: The most difficult challenge has been that of positioning of the light source. The easiest way is to create a bridge to the inside of the hole of the strain, in addition to being the base for the light source, will also be a support for the strain.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
CP: I like challenges and I strongly believed in this project.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
CP: I learned a lot, especially on the use of wood. I believe that it never ends up learning.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
CP: Being is a lamp made with the use of scrap wood. It is an object of desgin of "recovery". It can be used both as a light source for the atmosphere of the house, both as possible sitting, depending on the size with which it is produced. Is an innovative way intelligent and reuse of wood.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
