Interview with Arianaz Dehghan at Saturday 21st of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AD: The idea for this work came to me after one of my trips to western Iran where I encountered a Qashqai tribe and got to spend a few days among them. There, I decided to bring the every day stories of a local tribe weaved in their Kilims (kind of a carpet) into the everyday wearable objects of a modern woman. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AD: My main focus was to design an art piece which not only is admired by the modern art lovers but also has its roots in the deep culture of a traditional society. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? AD: I am planning to introduce my Qashqai collection to the foreign markets. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AD: 6 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? AD: I just wanted to follow pursuit my inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? AD: The design has been made for my own company. However, I will consider the potential proposals. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AD: Not specifically. The whole concept and design was developed by me FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AD: In art, talking about the target customers could not be right. I believe that any art lover could be a customer of what he or she likes no matter what level of the society he or she comes from. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AD: The user not only has a variety of options to choose her desired color for the tassels but also is wearing modern earrings which expresses the every-day stories of a tribe. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? AD: The name comes from the name of the tribe from which my design was inspired. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? AD: At first spending some time with the real Qashqai people was the best research for me. Apart from that Many articles were also studied about the Qashqai nomads and their meanings.
