Interview with Luci di Gala Jewellery at Thursday 26th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MW: Planetary collection perfectly presents circular rings with gleaming diamonds that illuminate. The image of all Planetary rings came from the solar system. Planets orbit around the sun, creating an incredible picture of mysterious universe on fingers. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MW: This design is a combination of creativity, market aim, function, and phenomenal craftsmanship. The "gravitation" has been visualized when a precious metal spring-like ring was created. The users can always choose their favourite charm to put on the ring from a diversity of charms LDG provides. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MW: Used half year to research, design, testing and production. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? MW: Driven by innovative jewellery craftsmanship and artistry, LUCI di GALA undertakes the task of bringing audience their own celebration. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? MW: These rings are all as mysterious as the stars orbit around them. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? MW: This "Planetary" collection presents perfectly circular rings and gleaming diamonds that illuminate your finger. Like all rings, "Planetary" rings are small but by far, they are the one that catches the most eye. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? MW: The charms on the ring are interchangeable, and you can free to change the charms on the ring with the screwing system in the back of the ring. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? MW: A slid-able and an interchangeable mechanism is applied in this collection. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? MW: We need to build up a ring with interchangeable charms, the screw to open the ring FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? MW: The main challenge is the interchangeable screw, which is the unique part of planetary ring. We need to overcome the problem to make a gold screw, also, it must be durable and prevent oxidization.
