Interview with Pavel Volovov at Sunday 8th of April 2018

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PV: Versatility, aesthetics, simplicity are three main principles of this design.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PV: The main focus is to create original product with very clear production process

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
PV: With this design we aim to achieve a mass market production.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PV: It took tree years to find the shape that satisfy very high aesthetic demands with clear technological process.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
PV: This concept derives from an inspiration and the idea of a very commercialised mass market product.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
PV: At this moment we are looking for a production company and we consider both self-production and selling the rights.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
PV: Passion for design

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
PV: As a designer I'm always being inspired by the greatest designers of all times. This particular project was also inspired by futuristic architecture of Oscar Niemeyer and Zaha Hadid

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
PV: The main target is a young or middle age enthusiastic person with a certain income, contemporary design lover.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
PV: Versatility

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
PV: The name of this project derives from its shape

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
PV: All the software availible

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
PV: Aesthetics

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
PV: We collaborated with engineers and technical specialists

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
PV: The role of technology is hard to underestimate because the production process involves 3D-printing and high-pressure metal casting

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
PV: We did not make any research except that we did not find any similar products on the market

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
PV: Finding of the production supplier

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
PV: I decide to submit to A -Design award because it could give an international input to the project

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
PV: The process of design always gives new knowledge in production process, materials etc.
