Interview with Sergio Kharchenko at Tuesday 26th of June 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SK: This is the kitchen island. The main idea in the design for this island was the yacht. In its form it resembles a yacht. The main idea was to display a luxury yacht in a home interior. And we decided to do it with the kitchen islands. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SK: The main task was to make a technically complex and at the same time air structure. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? SK: It is difficult to talk about this yet. But if we take into account the lines and angles of our design and compare it with the design of kitchen furniture of other companies and what we saw on Milano Euro Cucine in 2018 -...I think we without controversial ahead of time and I think that Azimuth will take its niche in the modern market. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SK: We thought about this work in early 2016 and in 2016 there were first ideas. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SK: Our goal was not only design, we really wanted to produce the first model, and we did it. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? SK: While I'm not ready to accurately answer this question, but we are folding to the transfer of copyright to this project. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? SK: The name is directly related to the corners and lines. The whole design consists of complex lines, at different angles. This applies to almost every detail of the Azimuth kitchen. This is not seen in the photo, you will understand this by touching.
