Interview with Deniz Ceyhun Baykan at Wednesday 26th of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DB: The main İdea was to create sustainable and ecological design consept. And create an opportunity for people to gain energy and water from nature. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? DB: Place the project without harming the nature, and that's why the green texture of enviroment was carried out to every floor. there was designed a specific green area for each housing space user. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? DB: Actually there are no plans... FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DB: I started working on this project since 2016 and still going through many improvements and revisions. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? DB: I'm always looking for innovative solutions to our lifestyle. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? DB: That's my personal project. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? DB: People that living in the urban lifestyle. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? DB: Technology integration in right way. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? DB: It is the name of construction company. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? DB: Basic tools- a pen and a ruler. And of course computer programs. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? DB: That it produce energy and water which is going to be used by apartment residents. In brief the projects aim is sustainable and ecological design consept. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? DB: We used fotovoltaic energy panels on all of the rooftop areas and suitable facade surfaces. It also includes the waste refinement for all grey and black water. And also was used rain water accumulation system. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? DB: Lack of my knowledge in the technology, but also don't limiting my creativity by learning more about them. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? DB: I'm always looking for an opportunity to connect with others and I think winning a award from an international design competition is one of the best ways to do so. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? DB: I evalute the consept with people's input make a big difference to the consept outcomes. Design is not about individual designer desire, it is about understanding people's desire and expectations. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? DB: I think there is pretty much imformation to understand the project. Thank you...
