Interview with David Chang Design Associates Intl at Monday 1st of May 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
DC: The design of this show home introduces the space concept of Le Grand Chateau Extraordinaire with Empire styled vertical wall panels and jamb details profiling a spacious architectural structure, displaying a magnificent grandeur and symbolizing the Empire power and glory.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
DC: Beijing Runze Palace utilizes eighteenth century social backdrop where the oriental culture begins its influence in the western world. The general design is base on a French classic of which integrates exquisite oriental interior decorative art and interior architectural elements. A traditional local arts and craft called Beijing Cao style Kite, the world cultural heritage named Tibetan Buddhism embroidery, the unique aesthetic valuable flange porcelain, the golden Chinese painting on a black lacquered screen panels are introduced to the space.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
DC: To promote and share this award winning design to friends and relatives, especially those clients and everyone who visiting this beautiful project.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
DC: Developing concept is a lengthy process under unpredictable time frame. To be exact the initial space planning and concept took approximately three months.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
DC: The design was commissioned.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
DC: This design is used by another company as their show villa to promote their sales.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
DC: The design was commissioned.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
DC: Target potential buyers mainly between age of 40 to 65

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
DC: The general atmosphere with touch of special art and culture.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
DC: The name of the Project is named by the clients who commissioned us to design.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
DC: Auto Cad, Photoshop, 3D design studio max

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
DC: The project inspiration research is to create a show home which can give the residence a continuing feel of classical luxury. Every square foot of this project demonstrates complete beauty from floor to ceiling as well as intricate luxurious touches throughout. Sensuously rich materials evoking, and indeed incorporating precious jewels have been combined for interior architectural detailing and color applications celebrating historical grandeur. One of the unique aspects of the design is to incorporate some local cultural touch and art on accessories and collectibles.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
DC: We worked as a team. The following are the team members who relentlessly contribute countless hours of time to design this project. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
DC: N/A

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
DC: N/A

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
DC: The challenge of this large 2,300 square meters villa is that we did have a big dream to achieve the ultimate luxury by finding the spectacular European Classical furnishings such as light fixture and furniture in a very short schedule since the client only gave us a short time to source and purchase because construction contractors they hired have taken too long in redoing and refining the classical detailing to pass our design approval.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
DC: Love to share good design with the international community.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
DC: N/A
