FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
JW: Boom-mer-rang was a packaging project inspired from the "ocean". The idea came from relooking the original paper-folding box, valorise its presentation to support its marine products.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
JW: Instant eye-catching effect

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
JW: With this award packaging design, I hope to enhance and bring the products to its better potential market

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
JW: After the researching period and some reflexions, the final design was ready in April and was used in July 2014

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
JW: It was leaded by inspiration...

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
JW: It is used exclusively for the marine binoculars "Boom-mer-rang" with its licensed brand VISIMAXI.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
JW: My core focuses are packaging design and brand development. During exhibitions, I used to observe how to improve the visual communication, which is particularly essential for the booth.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
JW: The power of simplicity in design.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
JW: Customers in the nautical field

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
JW: Matching and stretching effect with the products

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
JW: Boom-mer-rang comes from the game of "boomerang" which is fun and active. It represents also a "booming" "ranked"(rang) "marine"(mer) binocular products in this project

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
JW: Ai, Photoshop, Mac

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
JW: Harmony among all the elements

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
JW: My final design had printed from professional printing agency

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
JW: To present, support and match up with the products

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
JW: Related to ocean, boating elements

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
JW: Breakthrough traditional packaging for similar products

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
JW: To trace back my design project in a tangible way so as to motivate myself for the next project

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
JW: Inspiration may only work out with deeper thoughts in design

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
JW: Never give up 'thinking of' good Design
