Interview with Nima Bavardi at Saturday 16th of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
NB: The particular shape of the dining table lamp set refers to the phenomenon of lunar eclipse because of the refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere into the shadow cone.

NB: My main focus was to join performance and aesthetic beauty together and make emotional connection between the concept and the user.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
NB: Actually i did not think about that but of course i will wait for founders for any offers for producing it.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
NB: I do not remember exactly but i researched a lot about user experiences to design a true concept and i think it took 2 month till completing the concept.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
NB: I pursuit an inspiration and wanted to join function and aesthetics together and also make connection between the concept and the user.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
NB: Not produced yet and as i told i am waiting orders from founders for producing it.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
NB: Once i was walking at night and i saw some couple were looking at the sky and the moon and they say lovely words to each other while waking so i decided to bring that amazing scene to atmosphere of home at nights and users sense it.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
NB: Yes, my previous design "NewMoon" helped me to design this new concept.

NB: The glassy pendant dining table lighting is made by blown method and the luminosity parts are the latest LEDs.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
NB: As i said before i researched about user experiences and ... .

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
NB: making emotional connection between the concept and the user and also joining function and aesthetic beuty together.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
NB: Actually i was sure that my design will win because there are many researches behind it and it is different from other lighting concepts and products.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
NB: I learned a good design should should easily connect, speak, be a friend, love and live with the user. That is why the user love the design. Emotional connection between a product an the user is my main perspective of explaining a good design. Joining all aspects of aesthetic, ergonomic, form, function, usabality, accessibility, ... complete the meaning of a good design. That is all I do in my designs.
