Interview with 5+2 STUDIO at Thursday 21st of April 2016

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
YY: Design inspiration mainly derived from line outline of western traditional aesthetics.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
YY: Design emphasis of the project is to conduct new visual sense arrangement to element of western traditional aesthetics.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
YY: Do it follow mine mind.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
YY: It spent 2/3 of design time of the overall project.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
YY: Implementation of scheme underwent so much, and there is some difference with design commission of customer, so we coordinated much objective condition.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
YY: This is design project entrusted by our 5+2 team.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
YY: It is time.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
YY: Of course, since join the industry, there are many designers who give me opportunities and advice, which has great influence on my design road.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
YY: Buyers of Chinese residence.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
YY: Is understanding and observation to thing.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
YY: Conclusion to presentation characteristic of spatial vision.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
YY: It needs cooperation and coordination of overall construction team.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
YY: Color, for common people, market is repulsive to this kind of dark black which is adopted in such sales commercial space.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
YY: During design, there is corresponding major to cooperate in different design phase, then the project can be completed better with team cooperation.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
YY: Stimulate sales.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
YY: Comprehensive analysis to peripheral competitive houses of the project.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
YY: Short and urgent time is problem faced by Chinese designer.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
YY: Because we want to pass through the high-level, authority to gain honor.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
YY: Learn how to insist, by deep analysis to scheme requirement to obtain insist.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
YY: Expressing thanks for your affirmation of platform.
