Interview with Filippo Sesti at Friday 22nd of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? FS: The vestibule. When I visit the hause for the first time I thought that the entrance was too big for a common entrance and the residence too important for to have an entrance in the living. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? FS: Main focus has been to re-organize functionally the home spaces, because the kichen were where now there is the wardrobe, near at the bed rooms in way that when the wife was cooking and the husband looking the tv they were in 3 room distant each other. At the end the idea was to build a contemporaney architectur inside of an historic home FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? FS: I'm very glad to have win the bronze. I think that i will comunicate everywere this amazing result and I hope that A' Award will promote my work FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? FS: Three month for the first project, then other two months for the definitlve project, that was acept for the commision FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? FS: I have decide to pursuit an inspiration. At the begining they wanted just to move the kicten for to be nearest each other during their relax time. He said me:" now this is the budget (very low) but do a project for the all hause if you like, for later". The later became the now and the budget has grown much FS: What made you design this particular type of work? FS: The red glass window. I think that is amazing. When you open the door and you go inside of the home and you see this big, red, glass you say wow! The surprise is very strongly FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? FS: Italo rota definitely inspired me, I love his work his way of combining pop style with modernism. How he use the materials FS: Who is the target customer for his design? FS: People that want to have a house with personality and with a lot of money because there need a lot of money for to use good and innovative materials, and that enjoy of good contemporaney architecture FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? FS: I made another job before this with the same concept, an ultra-low budget job. I love even more this one because of this most radical and poetic, but surely T.Reggio residence has another level, is more comprehensive, thought in every part, is another thing. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? FS: Is the the address, the name of the street FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? FS: No, I did almost everything myself, I calculated even the structures, I wanted to test myself as an architect, I wanted to see if I was shipwrecked on a desert island if I could build a house. I have not built a real house, however some volumes that need to stand up and be structurally sound. I think that if I shipwreck, a cottage all in all I'lln be able to build it FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? FS: More of all in the matirials: iron, glass glossy painting etc. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? FS: The logistic has been not plaine, move big and weight glass has been difficult FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? FS: I was invited FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? FS: I learned above all in the implementation, how to organize teams of workers who performed high precision and quality work finishes for the very discerning guest
