Interview with Ladan Zadfar at Friday 28th of April 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
LZ: The main idea came up to our minds when we thought what if a cocktail could be like a perfume that has several phases with different scents.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
LZ: We wanted to design a new cocktail which has different flavors that one could taste step by step and that needed a new ingredient that could preserve different flavors so we chose chia seed because of its glace quality and we also added eatable colors which has wonderful glow under black light for clubs so one can have a glowing shot !

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
LZ: We really hope that we could get a chance for mass producing this design and finally see it in the market.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
LZ: We decided to pursuit an inspiration.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
LZ: No, it is not being produced but we are planing to sell this product.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
LZ: Today's world is attracted to new exciting experiences that suits well to different occasions. Experiencing a new drink that is glowing under black light , tastes differently and has a higher nutrition value comparing to other drinks could be exactly what one needs to party.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
LZ: No, this design is a group work of two designers ( Ladan Zadfar and Mohammad Farshad ).

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
LZ: Our target customers are Cocktail companies and Beverage companies.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
LZ: When one uses Firefly can experience the boundaries between flavors step by step and also how cool is to have a drink in a club with black light and surprising tastes .

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
LZ: As you know firefly glows in the dark and this design has the glowing trait under black light. That's why we chose this name for this design.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
LZ: We used chia seed in order to save different flavors and colors using its glace quality. We wanted to design a product that has several taste phases. There is no limitations for flavors and colors. It is important to add that by using chia in this product we raised the nutrition value of the drink .

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
LZ: No, this design is a group work of two designers ( Ladan Zadfar and Mohammad Farshad ).

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
LZ: To design a new product and come up with an idea that suits world's lifestyle and take people's attention was the hardest part.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
LZ: It was really important for us to evaluate our design as designers and also to see how it performs itself internationally and professionally .

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
LZ: To look simple and also different is what you learn each time you work on a design. Trying to make difference help us to read more, search more, feel more and by each step we learn so much about ourselves.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
